This is ironic because ice cream and shaved ice are - hot take - my least favorite desserts. I think it’s because I am super picky with the type of ice cream and flavor I actually like. I love a rocky road ice cream and if given the option, would usually opt for a pistachio gelato. Yes, I’m that person who went to Italy once and made it my personality because I can only eat gelato. I am totally making fun of myself, as a creature of comfort, I’m not surprised that this happened. I find something I enjoy, I stick to it.

Shaved ice is also not a favorite of mine. It just doesn’t hit the same as it does for someone like my sister who LOVES shaved ice! But it is a must have when visiting Hawaii. Brian and I visited home in May 2026 and my sister took us to Shimazu in Kapolei, HI. He had ordered the large size, albeit the warnings of the store manager that it was HUGE. When he got the bowl, we were so awestruck by how enormous it was and he struggled to finish it, even with our help!
